The weather finally lets us work...

Most of the roof is on, and the siding is nearly completed.  The siding color is actually just the primer, our client is trying to decide on a finish color.  Skylights were cut in today.  We will be moving to the porch areas
next.   Before and after pics of the front below.

Modern Kitchen Remodel

This is the before and after of a kitchen remodel. The owners had a clear vision of what they wanted; a complete opposite of what they had. The plan centered around a stainless steel island and a modern feel.
The biggest challenge of the remodel was replacing the old cabinets with new Ikea "do it yourself" cabinets. It turns out, assembly is a little trickier than the instructions suggest. They seem to be very sturdy and a perfect fit for this kitchen.
The homeowners chose gray tile flooring to compliment the stainless steel countertop on the island. The quartz countertops and white tile backsplash provided a good contrast to the dark cabinets and grays seen throughout the kitchen.

How is this for before and after and Covered Bridge Road?

Our client gave us pictures from the house under construction in the early 60s.  The top picture shows the house partially sided with unfinished redwood trim and cedar siding.  The chimney masonry was not completed until after the siding was completed.

The second picture was taken from the current driveway, still no chimney, and the lid for the cistern was formed but not yet poured.
The third picture shows the bridge under construction.

Friday

At least the sun was shining!

Things are finally starting to move forward now that the snow has melted and temperature has reached a balmy 43 degrees.  Windows were delivered today, install will start next week, as well as the start of the roof installation.

Monday

A few more shots of Saratoga

Its always difficult for us to show a small bathroom without a wide angle lens, but in this shot you can see the new, roomy tile shower. You can also see the small skylight we added since the layout did not allow space for a window.

This picture shows one of the closets and built-in drawer stacks we built in the master bedroom. There is matching set directly opposite.
We were able to modify some old doors we purchased at Architectural Salvage that were a perfect match to the existing doors. We also reproduced the reeded door and window casing that is used throughout this house. It is all original, but it is the first time we have seen it used.

This is just another picture of the outside after the paint job. You can see the small space we had to work with.

Covered Bridge Road continues...

We have begun installing more of the massive, 6x10 beams,... between snow showers and single digit temperatures. Click on any picture for a closer view.

What NOT to do!

Don't take an old deck, install wall sheathing, a rubber membrane, and then top it all off with carpet. The water stuck in the carpet will eventually find its way into the wood.

This job is being re-done with an interesting product called DecTek, http://www.dec-tec.com/products_membranes.cfm
